A choir for everyone! We love to sing!
Our mission: To provide regular affordable group singing and performance opportunities for the extended community.
Formerly known as the Wellsford Community Choir, the choir began in 2012 with funding from Auckland Council Creative Communities. The vision of the choir grew from the passionate belief of choir founder, natural health practitioner Sally Randall, that singing is immensely beneficial for individual and community health and wellbeing. Group singing provides an emotionally uplifting social experience, promotes effective breathing patterns, lifts mood and decreases stress levels.
After the 2012 successful 10 week workshop series and concert, in 2013 the choir registered to become an incorporated society; The Local Vocals Choir Inc.
The Local Vocals began under the skilled, professional, and energetic guidance of choir master Max Maxwell, founder of Auckland's SingForJoy choir.
In 2016 LVC singers transitioned into a 4 term weekly singing set-up with Kaipara Flats local Helen Diaz. Helen began as musical director/choir leader in term 1 of 2016, and concurrently supports and mentors emergent song-leadership from within the choir.
We are singing on Thursday evenings at the Wellsford District Community Centre between 7 and 9pm
There are no auditions needed to join Local Vocal Choir Inc., we believe in singing for the joy of it. We aim to provide guest workshops and group singing opportunities. While practices are held in Wellsford, we have members from a wide geographical base stretching from Kaiwaka to Warkworth to Mangawhai and Maungaturoto All are welcome to join our choir.
We look forward to 2019 and beyond!
